Meredith Dresser in Red Madrone with Curley Silver Maple Legs

Thank you for stopping by our corner of the web. We look forward to working with you.

The mission statement at the top of this page continues to be the standard I work to. My father is a retired high school woodshop teacher. From him I learned traditional, time honored techniques. Over the years since, I've incorporated new techniques, tools and materials if they would improve the finished piece. Quality is paramount. The same is true for my business philosophy: Fine quality, delivered on time and budget.

I owned and operated a furniture manufacturing business in Northern California for 30 years. That business involved 8 lines of furnishings, in 5 woods, 5 standard finishes and 4-5 sizes of each, produced by as many as 22 employees at a time. Due to the sale of that business and a non-competition clause; most of what we produced can't be shown here.

What I can show you is linked at the left; photography by me (I'm a woodworker, not a photographer!). This work was in addition to the designs and business I sold. Please bear in mind, these pictures show work over the last 30 years. This custom work has evolved from my own designs, the creations of architects and interior designers, and collabations with homeowners. I work in a variety of styles, woods and finishes. Local, traditional and exotic hardwoods are available. Look at the variety of designs, woods and finishes. If your ideas can be made with wood, we can probably do them.

Five years ago, I took on a new partner, both personally and professionally. Lynn spent the first 10 years of her professional life working in a highend resturant. A large percentage of that time was in the kitchen and management. Since then, her love of food and cooking has involved extensive independent education. Her thoughts on kitchen design and use are invaluable. Her next professional positions were with Jo-Ann Fabric and Crafts, a national chain of retail stores. She managed 2 stores for them. Her life long love of fabrics, colors, patterns and textures were a valuable asset. These skills, along with her business management accume and her expanding knowledge of wood and woodworking have been strong additions to the Emmes team. Currently, she's helping to manage Orcas Rental and Saw.

If you have an interesting project you'd like some help with, call or write so we can begin to make your furnishing dreams a reality.

Thank you,
Steve and Lynn Emmes
